Rules
of Play
All the players stand so
they are touching at least one other player. Everyone closes their eyes
(trusting nobody "cheats"). They must all then turn and move around
slightly, but never losing contact with at least one other. After a short
period, each player must grasp another player's hand in each of theirs.
Should anyone not be able to find another hand solely by feel, they may
ask who has a hand left, and anyone who does may answer. When everyone has
two hands firmly in their grasp, they may open their eyes.
The goal is simple: to
untangle the group so that everyone is arranged in a circle -- without
letting go of any hands. If necessary, a player's arms may be crossed to
avoid having to stand on their heads.
Variants
Snake Variant: Form a
line, in whatever order desired. Each person passes their right arm
between their legs, to grasp the left hand of the player behind them. When
everyone is so joined, they must (starting with the player in back) crawl
through one another's legs until everyone is in a line again.
Notes
In its normal form, and especially with a larger group. it may not be
possible to completely disentangle the group without breaking limbs. In
such a case, just play it again!
