Sensual Scenario Introduction

So, what is a sensual scenario, you ask? Reasonable question. Many of us get into sexual ruts over time. It isn't necessarily that we're fooling around less often, nor that sex is any less enjoyable. It's just that we may be looking for something . . . different, spicier, that helps us experience roles and feelings we may have missed. And as you might already know, the authors truly believe that sex should be fun. Of course, even if your sex life is already great, please feel free to try the scenarios anyway.

To help you get your own juices flowing freely, we're compiling the list below of play ideas. Choose one and follow it to the letter, or use one as a starting point and improvise from there. Should you have ideas you would like to contribute, please feel free to post them on our Bulletin Board. If we like them too, they'll be adapted for the list. And, most of all, enjoy!

Category Definitions

Category Definition
BDSM BDSM -- literally -- stands for Bondage, Domination (or discipline), Sadism (or submission), & Masochism. Ultimately, it refers to an exchange of power; with one party taking control of all or most aspects of the encounter and/or lifestyle. In most relationships, this exchange of power is loving rather than cruel, and the submissive/masochistical partner actually has much more power than would be guessed at by an outsider. Nevertheless, we recommend you only play with a known partner, and with a prearranged safe-word or gesture to immediately slow down or stop the activity should either party feel things are getting out of hand.
D/s Dominance and Submission. D/s usually stands for dominance and submission, either as role-play or as a lifestyle choice. The exact extent is determined by those involved. As with BDSM, a D/s relationship involves an exchange of power. However, it should be kept in mind that the submissive (bottom) partner often retains as much -- or more -- of the "power" in the relationship as the dominant (top) partner.
Erotic Coupling Erotic coupling, as used herein, is a very general term. Simply put, it refers to setting up a situation which because of dress, locale, etc. heightens the sexual excitement of the participants.
Exhibitionist Simply put, an exhibitionist gains sexual satisfaction through their exposing their "private parts" to others. While often times this is done to an unwilling observer, in play it often can refer to placing one's self in a position where they may be observed in some state of undress. Also see Voyeurism.
First Time First time refers to simulating or recreating one's early, often fumbling, sexual experiences. It can often be assumed that all parties involved are still virginal, or at least only minimally sexually experienced.
Gay Being gay means having a sexual attraction to one's own gender; usually referring to a male's attraction to other males.
Lesbian Lesbian refers to a female being sexually attracted to other females. The term can also be used to indicate a sexual act between women, even those not necessarily considering themselves homosexual.
Role Reversal A role reversal is when two or more persons exchange their regular characteristics and/or functions with one another. For example, a common form of role reversal would be the male assuming the female's dress and typical pursuits, and vice-versa. However, role reversal can also pertain to professional relationships (e.g. boss/employee), power exchanges (see D/s), etc.
Simulated Rape Simulated rape is a fairly common fantasy of women, and sometimes one of men. "Simulated" in a scenario, of course, allows for the fantasy to be fulfilled without truly being assaulted against one's will -- or, committing the same.
Voyeurism Voyeurism refers to the gaining of sexual excitement and/or satisfaction through the viewing of others in a state of undress, or conducted sexual acts. Also see Exhibitionist.
